I could not come to terms with the fact that mom was no more there. I had become quite unmanageable for my father. He too was totally broken. But life had to go on . As it is rightly said time and tides wait for no man. Nothing had come to a standstill other than dad and my state of mind. It all had to be changed. In the meanwhile koushik also got a job in Bharuch. Marriage was something which was just not on my mind then. Also he had just got a job and so he felt that he should first save some money at least for simple reasons that when I ask him something he should not need to ask his dad for money. He had got a job in October. So nowi knew it would be difficult for him to come as well. I don’t know what came to my father in laws mind but soon they came over home and started discussing our wedding. My father also soon jumped to the idea of a wedding that could be held soon. Of course initially his mother was not very happy as it was a sudden decision that we should get married soon. After consulting the Pandits and all the date was finally decided as 23rd of Jan 2004. All preparations had to be done. For me and my father it was a bit difficult as we had just come out of the shock. Not that we wanted a grand wedding but my father is insisted that it had to be done the traditional way. The hall was fixed. I had to do a lot of things myself as there was no executor in our family. My dad was not a very good executor.
The d day finally arrived and the wedding was held. It was a great feeling that I was going to my loves house for good. It was held the Iyengar way. I had most of my relatives who had come over. Most of the people thought that since my mom was not there I should not feel left alone so they all turned up. We had a house full of people. It was a great feeling getting married to him. Loads of stuff to be taken over was there. A lot of packing was involved.
the wedding went off well . Koushik had very high fever and it was very difficult for him to sit through he whole thing. But he did sit through the whole thing. When he tied the taali around my neck there was no end to which I missed my mother because I knew how happy she would have been to witness the whole thing. But atleast there was an assurance for me that she knew the person whom I was getting married to and she also liked him a lot. Well the wedding was over and it was time to say good bye to all.
